地久祭とは？
老子の「天長地久」の言葉より用いられた言葉だそうです。天皇陛下ご生誕の「天長祭」に対して、皇后陛下のご生誕を祝し執り行われる祭事を「地久祭」と言い、皇室の弥栄と国運の隆昌を祈念する祭事だそうです。（参考：鶴岡八幡宮 地久祭）
「天長地久」とは、天は長く永遠に続き、地は悠久であるという意味だそうです。中国春秋時代の思想家である老子が書いたと伝えられ、上篇（道経）と下篇（徳経）に分かれ、全部で81章で構成されており、そのうちの7章に出てくる言葉です。

“天長Tencho 地久Chikyu” means that the heavens will continue forever and the earth will continue forever. This is said to be a quote from the Chinese philosopher Laozi. The book consists of 81 chapters. This quote appears in chapter 7.

開催時間・お勧めポイント
10時から始まりますので、その前ぐらいに社務所前で待機がベストです。
祭事自体は、本宮で実施されますので、中に入って見学することは出来ません。その間30分以上待っていることになりますね。
本宮での祭事が終了後、若宮、白幡神社、祖師廟を回り終了します。
だいたい60分ぐらいで終了しますので、見学される場合はお早めに・・

鶴岡八幡宮のイチョウも色づいています。2010年に倒木してから今年で15年目の新しいイチョウですね。年々大きくなっていくのを見るのも楽しみです。
毎年の成長記録を取っている人もいますので、そちらを見るのも楽しいです。

鶴岡八幡宮境内の化粧室の場所です。舞殿の横の休憩所の化粧室は結構混んでいます。個人的に穴場は国宝館にある化粧室です。あまり知られてないので比較的空いている気がしますが、国宝館を利用した人のみが利用可能です。

The restroom at the rest area next to Maiden is relatively crowded.Personally, I think the hidden gem is the restroom inside the National Treasure Hall. It’s relatively unknown, so it tends to be less crowded. However, it’s only available to those who have visited the National Treasure Hall.

アクセス
鶴岡八幡宮
鎌倉駅西口を出て、小町通りを通るか、まっすぐ歩いて若宮大路から段葛を通るのがお勧めです。
歩いて10分程度です。

アクセス：JR鎌倉駅よりバス大塔宮行 「大塔宮」下車徒歩40分
鎌倉宮より、瑞泉寺方面へ。永福寺跡の分れ道を瑞泉寺方面に行かず二階堂方面（左手）へ。300mほど歩き二階堂川を渡る橋と分れ道がありますのでそれを右に行きます。そのまま直進して舗装されていない山道へ入っていくと、開けた場所が獅子舞です。
Access:
From JR Kamakura Station, take the bus bound for Ootō-no-miya and get off at “Ootō-no-miya”. From there, it’s about a 40-minute walk.
Head towards Zuisenji Temple from Kamakura-gū Shrine. When you reach the fork near the site of the former Yōfuku-ji Temple, don’t go towards Zuisenji — take the left path towards Nikaidō instead. Walk about 300 meters, and you’ll come to a small bridge over the Nikaidō River and another fork in the road — take the right path there. Keep going straight, and soon you’ll enter an unpaved mountain trail. Follow that, and you’ll come to an open area — that’s Shishimai.
