鎌倉の4万6千日とはなんのこと？

8月10日に観音様にお参りすると、四万六千日間お参りしたのと同じご利益を授かると言われている縁日です。

毎月18日は観音様のご縁日ですが、これとは別に元禄時代の頃より8月10日を「功徳日」とし、この日にお参りをすると「四万六千日分のご利益がある」と言われるようになりました。この四万六千という数字は白米一升分が四万六千粒で、「一生（一升）食いはぐれることなく、息災に過ごせる」ことに由来しています。（出典：長谷寺ホームページ）

開催時間・お勧めポイント

今回は、5:30 安養院 → 6:00 長谷寺 → 9:30 杉本寺 の順に参拝しました。

安養院：5:00～9:00（拝観無料）で特に何かをやっているということはなさそうですので、拝観時間にお参りし、静かに参拝しました。
An’yo-in Temple：Open from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (free admission). There didn’t seem to be any special events taking place, so I simply visited during the opening hours and offered my prayers quietly.

長谷寺：開門 04:00　閉門 17:00（4:00～8:00　無料拝観）　
この日は提灯のある門から入れます。朝4時に開門し、8時まで観音堂にて読経が行われますので、この時間内に参拝すれば座って参加することもできます。
本堂（観音堂）で、読経が行われていますので静かにお参りしましょう。ご本尊の十一面観音菩薩様の前の椅子に座りお参りすることもできます。
Hase-dera Temple：Opening hours are from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (free admission from 4:00 to 8:00
a.m.).
　On this day, visitors may enter through the gate adorned with lanterns.From 4:00 to 8:00 a.m., sutra chanting takes place in the Kannon Hall. If you visit during this time, you may sit and take part in the service. As the chanting is conducted in the main hall before the principal image, the Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva, please be respectful and quiet during your visit. You may also sit on the chairs placed in front of the statue to offer your prayers.

杉本寺：開門 0:00　閉門 16:00（5:00～9:00　拝観無料）
大護摩供、三十三観音経読誦は 6:00から約１時間執り行われます。
三十三観音大法要が10:00から約１時間厳修されます。
この日にお祈りされると四万六千日分のご功徳があると伝えられています。
早めに行けば本堂で座ってお聞きすることもできます。
晴れた日は大法要は本堂の前で行われるそうですが、2025年は雨のため本堂内で執り行われました。
御朱印をいただくのには結構並びました（30分ぐらい）
Sugimoto-dera Temple：Opening hours are from midnight (0:00) to 4:00 p.m. (with free admission from 5:00 to 9:00 a.m.).
The Daigomagyo fire ritual and the chanting of the Thirty-three Kannon Sutra are conducted from 6:00 a.m. for about one hour. At 10:00 a.m., the Grand Memorial Service for the Thirty-three Kannon is solemnly performed, also lasting about an hour. It is said that praying on this day grants blessings equivalent to 46,000 days of worship.
If you arrive early, you can sit inside the main hall and listen. On clear days, the Grand Memorial Service is usually held in front of the main hall, but in 2025 it was conducted indoors due to rain.
Please note that receiving a goshuin required quite a wait—I stood in line for about 30 minutes.
