龍口法難会とは？
9月12日は日蓮聖人龍口法難のご聖日にあたります。
日蓮は、過激な他宗批判、政治批判により幕府に捕らえられ、1271（文永8）年9月12日、腰越の龍の口刑場（現在、藤沢市片瀬、龍口寺所在地）で斬首されそうになる直前に奇怪な現象が起きて、斬首を免れたことを記念する法会です。
日蓮は鎌倉時代中期の僧で、法華経こそが釈迦の真実の教えであると説きました。彼は他宗や幕府を厳しく批判したため流罪に遭いましたが、信念を貫き続けました。佐渡で『開目抄』や『観心本尊抄』を著し、題目と曼荼羅を中心とした独自の教えを確立しました。
妙本寺の龍口法難会では、祖師堂が特別開帳されます（年に一度だけの開帳でしたが、現在は鎌倉十三仏 梅かまくら特別参拝でも見ることができます）。
開催時間・お勧めポイント
10時～15時で、普段非公開の祖師堂にて、祖師堂安置の日蓮聖人の特別開帳を行い、ご祈願を受け付けますので、この時間に参拝すれば大丈夫です。外から見るだけでしたら無料ですが、ご祈願を受ける場合、3000円/人のご志納が必要となります。

鎌倉で頂ける日蓮宗の御朱印
鎌倉にある日蓮宗のお寺は、常栄寺、上行寺、妙法寺、妙本寺、本覚寺、安國論寺、妙隆寺、大巧寺（おんめ様は頂けない）、長勝寺、収玄寺、龍口寺（藤沢ですが）とありますが、その中でいただけた御朱印です。
改めて日蓮上人について勉強してみるのもお勧めです。

長興山妙本寺の開基は、比企能員の子で能本（よしもと）です長興は能本の父の能員（よしかず）の法号、妙本は母の法号です。この地は比企能員一族が住む谷戸（やと）であったところから「比企（ひきが）谷（やつ）」と呼ばれています。
私が鎌倉で一番好きなお寺です。静かで夏は涼しい風が通ります。解放感がいいですね。誰も拒まない感じです。お弁当食べてても大丈夫。
祖師堂の横から山を登ると祇園山ハイキングコースに出ることが出来ます。

Ryuko-honan-e
On September 12, 2025, Myohonji Temple will hold a special opening for the Ryukko Hōnan, a ceremony commemorating the persecution faced by Nichiren.
This memorial service commemorates the event in which Nichiren, having been arrested by the Kamakura shogunate for his outspoken criticism of other Buddhist schools and the government, was nearly executed. On September 12, 1271 (Bun’ei 8), just before he was to be beheaded at the Tatsunokuchi execution grounds in Koshigoe (present-day Katase, Fujisawa City, where Ryūkō-ji Temple now stands), a mysterious phenomenon is said to have occurred, and Nichiren was spared execution.
Nichiren was a Buddhist monk of the mid-Kamakura period who taught that the Lotus Sutra represents the true teaching of Shakyamuni Buddha. Because of his severe criticism of other religious sects and the shogunate, he was repeatedly persecuted and exiled. Nevertheless, he remained steadfast in his convictions. During his exile on Sado Island, he wrote major works such as Kaimoku-shō and Kanjin no Honzon-shō, through which he established his distinctive teachings centered on the chanting of the daimoku and the mandala.
Event Schedule
From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Soshido, which is usually closed to the public, is open for a special viewing of the statue of Nichiren Shonin enshrined inside. During this time, visitors can also receive blessings.
f you only wish to view the hall from the outside, admission is free. However, if you would like to receive a blessing, a donation of 3,000 yen per person is required.
