鎌倉五山第2位の格式を誇る円覚寺。
臨済宗円覚寺派大本山。山号は瑞鹿山。
鎌倉幕府八代執権 北条時宗により、宋から無学祖元（むがくそげん）を迎え、1282年に建立されました。
円覚寺という名前は、建てる時に土の中から「円覚経」を納めた石櫃（せきひつ、いしびつ。納骨用の櫃）が掘り出されたことからによります。
仏殿には、日本画家の前田青邨監修、守屋多々志揮毫の白龍の図があります。円覚寺の龍の爪は３、建長寺の龍は５ですので、比べてみるのも楽しいです。

宝物入れ
風入とは、円覚寺が収蔵している文化財を、虫干しを兼ねて展示するものです。
毎年11月3日の文化の日前後に合わせて、虫干しを兼ねた寺宝の一部が一般公開されます。国宝の「舎利殿」、普段は立ち入りの許されない「正続院」の門の内に入り、「国宝舎利殿」の正面近くまでお参りする事が出来ます。舎利殿の裏には、開山の無学祖元坐像が安置されているそうです。（拝観する事はできませんが、写真を見て想像してみてはいかがでしょう）
他にも代表的な展示品としては、「重文 北条時宗書状」「重文 仏涅槃図」などがあります。
Houmotsu Kazeire – Special Treasure Display
Every year around Culture Day (November 3), Engaku-ji opens up part of its treasured collection for a limited-time display. It’s also a chance to air out these historical items – a tradition with deep roots.
During this time, you’ll be able to get close to the National Treasure Shariden Hall, and even step inside the gate of Shōzoku-in, an area that’s usually off-limits. It’s a rare chance to see the Shariden up close!
Behind the Shariden, there’s a statue of Engaku-ji’s founder, Mugaku Sogen, sitting in meditation. While it’s not open to the public.

同じ御朱印でも書いてくださる人によって味が違います。それも楽しみの一つですね。
御朱印帳もカッコイイものからおしゃれなもの、三十三観音用など色々あります。
参拝した際に御朱印をいただくのも鎌倉を訪れた時の思い出にもなりますね。
