実朝祭とは

源実朝の生誕日に行われるお祭りです。源頼朝、源実朝がお祀りされている鶴岡八幡宮境内にある白旗神社で執り行われます。
源実朝は、鎌倉幕府を開いた父 源頼朝、母 北条政子の次男で、鎌倉幕府第3代将軍。建久3年（1192年）8月9日に生まれました。
幼名を千幡（せんまん）と言います。。承久元年（1219年）正月27日、右大臣拝賀のため鶴岡八幡宮寺に参詣、神拝の終ったあと、頼家の遺子公暁（以前はくぎょうと呼んでましたが、今はこうぎょうと呼ぶようです）に暗殺されました。
実朝は暗殺される当日に、「出でいなば 主なき宿と なりぬとも 軒端の梅よ 春を忘るな」という歌を詠んだと言われています。この歌は、「もし私がいなくなって、主のいない家になったとしても、軒端に咲く梅よ、どうか春を忘れずに花を咲かせてくれ」という意味合いです。本当でしたら、何か知っていたのでしょうか？と思わせる句ですね。

開催時間・お勧めポイント

開始：午前10時　終了：午前10:30頃

10時前に社務所前で待機、午前10時になると神職が社務所を出発し、流鏑馬馬場から鎌倉国宝館の前を通り、鶴岡八幡宮内にある白旗神社まで歩いて向かいます。神事は白旗神社の社殿内で行われるため、一般の方は中の様子をはっきり見ることはできません（声は聞こえますし、マイクで進行してくれますので、それに合わせて頭を下げたり、柏手を打ったりしましょう）。
白旗神社の正面の通路には立つことは出来ませんので、ご注意ください。
所要時間はおよそ30分です。
終了すると、神主さんのお言葉があり、そのあと神職の皆さんが社務所に戻られます。

この時期は暑さが厳しいため、見学の際は熱中症に気をつけて。

Before 10:00, people wait in front of the shrine office. At 10:00 sharp, the priests depart from the office and proceed along the yabusame riding ground, past the Kamakura Museum of National Treasures, and on to Shirahata Shrine, located within the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu grounds.
The ritual itself takes place inside the Shirahata Shrine sanctuary, so visitors cannot clearly see what is happening inside. However, the proceedings can be heard, and since the ceremony is conducted with a microphone, you can follow along by bowing your head or clapping your hands at the appropriate moments.
Please note that standing directly on the pathway in front of Shirahata Shrine is not allowed. The entire ritual lasts about 30 minutes. Once it is over, the head priest offers a few words, after which the priests return to the shrine office.
Since this event takes place during a very hot time of year, please be careful about heatstroke while observing.

その他お役立ち情報

鶴岡八幡宮境内の化粧室の場所です。個人的に穴場は国宝館にある化粧室です。あまり知られてないので比較的空いている気がしますが、国宝館を利用した人のみが利用可能です。

The restrooms within the grounds of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine are located in several places. Personally, I think the hidden gem is the restroom inside the National Treasure Hall. It’s relatively unknown, so it tends to be less crowded. However, it’s only available to those who have visited the National Treasure Hall.

鎌倉駅西口を出て、小町通りを通るか、まっすぐ歩いて若宮大路から段葛を通るのがお勧めです。歩いて10分程度です。
