この時期を見逃すな！浄光明寺の裏手にはかつて多宝寺という律宗のお寺がありました。多宝寺ヶ谷というところには、約３メートルもの巨大な五輪塔が安置されています。年に１度浄光明寺の裏山、冷泉為助の宝篋印塔の裏から登ることができます。

2月15日はお釈迦様が入滅した日で涅槃会（ねはんえ）と言われます。鎌倉では多くのお寺で涅槃会が執り行われますが、妙本寺の涅槃会では寺宝の「涅槃図」を見ることができますので、ぜひ足を運んで実物を見てほしいです。

鎌倉の長勝寺で毎年2月11日に行われる、大國禱会成満祭（だいこくとうえじょうまんさい）は、100日の荒行を積んだ日蓮宗の修行僧が、最後の仕上げとして、お経を唱えながら冷水を被るというイベントです。1度は見ておきたい鎌倉の催事ですね。

2月3日の節分では、鎌倉の鶴岡八幡宮、鎌倉宮、長谷寺、建長寺でも節分祭が執り行われます。芸能人も来られて豆まきをされますので、ぜひ1度足を運んでみてはいかがでしょうか。運がよければ、福豆をゲットして何かと交換できます。また少し早いかもしれませんが、梅も咲いていますので、そちらもきれいです。大船観音寺は毎年２月１日に開催されるようです。
